Bakang Ntshingane is an international development professional working at the nexus of civil society, think tanks, policy research and multilateral development cooperation. He has spent the last couple of years learning and carving out a career in global development through short stints at the USAID mission in Botswana, the Green Climate Fund Headquarters in South Korea and the Trade Law Centre (TRALAC), South Africa. He has also worked with grassroots civil society organisations in Botswana as a research and policy consultant on democracy, governance, and public health-related programs.
The current phase of his career is dedicated to advancing ‘Southern’ perspectives in global debates on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He’s currently fulfilling this objective as Programme Officer for Southern Voice – a network of 59 think tanks in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. In this role, he supports the evidence-based policy analyses and research programs of Southern Voice.
In addition to his academic and professional interests, Bakang has another parallel career he equally enjoys. He has contributed as a political and economic analyst for various online, radio, television and print media such as Botswana Television, Radio Botswana, GabzFM, YaronaFM, DumaFM, Huffington Post South Africa, Daily Maverick, Mmegi Botswana, Sunday Standard Botswana among others. His analysis has been quoted in reputable media establishments, including Jeune Afrique and think tank The Institut français des relations internationales .
